This animation storyboard began as a vision for a music video, drawing inspiration from the poignant styles of Porter Robinson’s SHELTER and the enchanting aesthetics of Studio Ghibli. The narrative explores our perception of time and the memories we cherish throughout our lives.

The story follows a couple who meet in Highschool, capturing key moments that etch themselves into their memories. It begins with their first shared laugh, shared lunch, and movie- seemingly light-hearted interactions that sparks a deeper connection. This moment is pivotal, setting the tone for their evolving relationship. As their bond deepens, we witness them starting a music band with friends for a festival, even the tough moments when studying to get into university, all become a vibrant and joyous experience that highlights the essence of youth and creativity.

The couple embark on adventures, including traveling, further education and buying their first home, the even the birth of their first and second child, the animation begins to reflect the passage of time. The pacing accelerates, illustrating how time seems to speed up as we age, days become shorter, hours go by faster. Key moments become further apart, with larger time skips emphasizing how fleeting even the precious experiences are. The animation captures the bittersweet beauty of life, showcasing moments that may seem trivial at first glance but hold profound significance.

The narrative takes a poignant turn when one partner falls ill and eventually passes away. This section delves into the raw emotions of grief faced by the surviving partner, highlighting their struggle to navigate a world once shared with their beloved, as well as the daunting prospect of being a single parent. The animation emphasizes relatable events and challenges, such as learning to cook, tying plaits in hair, mending clothes or even just facing life’s daily tasks without their partner’s support.

As the surviving partner ages, the animation portrays their journey through a fulfilled life, albeit still marked by loss. They watch their children grow and experience their own treasured memories, living a wonderful life and following in their footsteps. Time passes even faster, with the children leaving home embarking on their own adventures. The focus shifts to the garden the couple once tended together, symbolizing their shared dreams and the life they built. The passing seasons serve as a backdrop, illustrating family gatherings and moments of joy that become increasingly rare as time continues to march on.

In the final scenes, we see the partner grow old and eventually face the inevitability of death. Yet, in a beautiful twist, they awaken as a spirit, reuniting with their love in the afterlife. The entire animation culminates in a profound realization: what once felt insignificant becomes the foundation of their happiest memories.

This narrative is intended to unfold without dialogue, allowing the emotive music to guide viewers through this touching journey of love, loss, and the enduring power of memories. The only words to be spoken through the entire animation take place right at the end in a gentle whisper as the music fades: " Did I live a good life? Did I do you proud?" the recently deceased partner asks. They are greeted with a warm smile and nod from their partner and the final words "Welcome Home." The storyboard encapsulates the essence of life’s fleeting moments, making them resonate deeply with audiences as they reflect on their own experiences.
